The University of Maryland School of Social Work Community Outreach Service’s Neighborhood Fellows program has two main objectives: (1) to increase the capacity of neighborhood organizations to carry out community development activities; and (2) to expose graduate level social work students to neighborhood community development work as a means to build a pipeline of talent for the sector. The Lewis Museum collects, preserves, interprets, documents, and exhibits the rich contributions of African American Marylanders from the State’s earliest history. Community Mediation Center
The mission of the Community Mediation Center is to reduce interpersonal conflict and community violence by increasing the use of non-violent conflict resolution strategies and by making mediation easily accessible in Baltimore City. Central Baltimore Partnership
The Central Baltimore Partnership is a collaboration of city government, neighborhood organizations, major property owners, three higher education institutions, and nonprofit agencies in a comprehensive, long-term project to restore Baltimore’s crossroads. By increasing investment and improving the economic and social health of the area from Penn Station to 24th Street, between Howard Street and Greenmount Avenue, the Partnership seeks to make Central Baltimore the city’s next great destination. This grant is for core operating expenses for FY12 ($30,000) and FY13 ($50,000).
