As part of the City’s school facilities modernization plan, in the 2018-2019 school year, Calvin Rodwell Elementary School merged with Grove Park Elementary/Middle School, became a full PreK-8 school, and moved to a temporary location at the Grove Park campus. In its first year of the move, the now Calvin Rodwell Elementary/Middle School surpassed all enrollment expectations. Then, in January 2020, the school returned to its original and new building – retaining its students in the move and now anticipating even greater enrollment in the Fall. Then, COVID-19 hit. After only two months in the new building with over 700 students, schools were closed. Calvin Rodwell’s dedicated staff have been working tirelessly to support students and families through the pandemic, and are now turning their focus to the school year ahead. This grant provided funds to solidify the transition and support the community’s “return to school” in the 2020-2021 school year.
