Planning for Baltimore Corps began in 2013 and included building a strong local board and separate national advisory board, identifying and cultivating local fellowship opportunities, and designing a first-rate training and professional development program for participating fellows. As Baltimore Corps embarks on its fourth cohort of fellows in 2017-2018, despite cutting the application period in half, almost 900 applications were received for a cohort that should total approximately 40 members. This was another record-high number of applications representing 62 percent growth from the prior year and more than 10 times the number of applicants from Baltimore Corps’ first class. There are now more than 125 Visionary Cause Leaders that are employing Baltimore Corps fellows or requesting placements. This grant provided $100,000 in core operating support.
