Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development (BUILD) is a broad-based, non-partisan, interfaith, multiracial community power organization rooted in Baltimore’s neighborhoods and congregations. The foundation has supported BUILD’s community organizing in West Baltimore since 2015. BUILD’s Turnaround Tuesday program trains its participants to act on issues as leaders in their communities and in their workplaces. Through strategic partnerships with employers throughout the Baltimore region, Turnaround Tuesday has put over 600 Baltimore citizens to work in living wage jobs. Amidst the current pandemic, Turnaround Tuesday’s efforts have focused on providing case management services, food and emergency funding support and preparation for employment opportunities to over 500 families. This grant provided funds to support Turnaround Tuesday’s COVID-19 response efforts.
