Living Classrooms inspires children, youth, and adults to achieve their potential through hands-on education, workforce development, health and wellness, and violence prevention programming. Safe Streets is a public health and safety campaign to reduce shootings in several Baltimore communities, where homicide is one of the greatest risk factors for teenagers and young adults. Living Classrooms operates two Safe Streets sites in the McElderry Park and Belair-Edison neighborhoods of East Baltimore. This grant provided funds to support the Safe Streets Program, which due to COVID-19, in addition to continuing to work on violence reduction, is now addressing the need for distribution of food, essentials, social distancing guidelines, and job opportunities to high-risk individuals
