Rails-to-Trails Conservancy (RTC) is dedicated to the creation of a nationwide network of multi-use trails that enhance the environment, transportation, economy, neighborhoods and people. RTC’s work is magnified in urban areas, where one mile of trail can completely redefine the livability of a community. More than just recreational amenities, trails create opportunities for active transportation and improved health and wellbeing as they connect people to jobs, schools, businesses, and their community. In Baltimore, RTC and the Baltimore Greenway Trails Coalition, comprising nearly sixty local organizations and agencies, seek to create a 35-mile world-class network of urban trails that link together diverse neighborhoods, cultural amenities, and outdoor resources. This grant provided core operating support.
