The Digital Equity Initiative is led by the Digital Equity Coalition (DEC), a collaboration of 49 nonprofit organizations across Baltimore City, formed out of a desire to help increase access to computers, internet, and tech support in historically-marginalized communities. This grant provided funds to support the creation of mesh (Wi-Fi) networks in four neighborhoods that currently include large populations of residents without internet access.
