For poor working families, diapers alone can account for up to 12% of gross income. Diapers and baby gear are not allocated through federal or state assistance programs. The only funds that can be used for diapers are from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, which must also be used to cover rent, utilities, transportation and many other essential family costs. ShareBaby provides diapers, clothing and gear to highly effective community organizations- working to ensure Baltimore’s young children get the best start in life. ShareBaby estimates that there are 25,000 children of diaper age living in poverty in Baltimore City. This grant provided core operating support.
