TREND Community Development Corporation (TREND CDC) is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to strengthen urban neighborhoods through inclusive community development. TREND CDC was founded in 2019 to complement the work of The Chicago TREND Corporation (TREND), a social enterprise focused on co-investing in shopping centers and building wealth for Black community investors.
In Baltimore, TREND co-owns the Edmondson Village Shopping Center and the Walbrook Junction Shopping Center in partnership with 330 primarily Black, local investors. With $9.5 million of public investment from Baltimore City and the State of Maryland, TREND CDC and TREND, collectively the TREND enterprise, have launched a multi-year, multi-phase effort to transform and modernize these two commercial assets. This grant provided operating support.
