29th Street Community Center
- 07/20/2022
The 29th Street Community Center strengthens neighborhoods and people by bringing together residents of Baltimore City through meaningful community building and high-quality enrichment programming for all ages and backgrounds. In 2011, the Barclay Recreation Center was closed by the Baltimore City. With the support of community residents and other stakeholders, Greater Homewood Community Corporation (the forerunner to Strong City Baltimore) reopened the Center. Since its rebirth, the Center has offered over 100 unique and diverse programs, dozens of community-strengthening events, and essential public services to thousands of community residents. In July 2021, the 29th Street Community Center officially transitioned to a new nonprofit entity, the 29th Street Community Center, Inc. This grant provided funds for one-time pre-development assistance to support a needed $2.5M renovation to the facility.
