Without a Red Line, We Must Shore Up Other Baltimore Transportation Options (2015)
Abstract:
Written in the aftermath of the cancellation of Baltimore’s proposed Red Line transit project, this op-ed argues that the city and state must pursue alternative transportation investments to improve mobility, expand access to jobs, and support neighborhood revitalization. While acknowledging the loss of the Red Line as a major setback, the article calls for a renewed focus on strengthening existing transit services, improving bus networks, enhancing regional connectivity, and advancing other transportation projects that can promote economic opportunity and equitable growth. The piece contends that sustained investment in transportation infrastructure remains essential to Baltimore’s long-term competitiveness and quality of life.
